Birthday Party
Happy Early Birthday Mr. Schick!!! Today in class we celebrated by having Owen bring in two cakes, different types of cookies, singing the famous song, and some Christmas music along with a bit of dancing. Owen made a chocolate cake with pink icing and another type of cake that looked like vanilla with blue icing. The cake was supposed to represent a population pyramid but it didn't really end well. After the cake and the goofy dancing, everyone sat down and we started going over the human geography exam that will be on Wednesday. There will be 100 questions with 2 essays I think and one of the essays will be describing the difference between the demographic model and population pyramids. I will study hard this weekend and hope for the best!

Quizlet
In class today, Mr Schick wasn't in school so we had a sub and we had to go to room 124. The good thing is that our test is not going to be before exams on Monday and we got the whole period to study for exams. I made a Quizlet and started adding the answers and questions on previous tests and quizzes. I also made some questions from the notes in my copybook and added them in the Quizlet. During my free mod I am going to check all my blogs and see if I have any extra notes to add or important information that should definitely be included. I am a little nervous about exams, some more than others, but I started studying on Monday and I have gotten far but Biology is taking a while because there is so much info. We also haven't gotten a review sheet in that class and that is the one I really wanted early.

Exam Review
Today we went over everything about the exam. Not specifically about what will be on the exam but about where it is, how long it it, what the day will be like, and what to do/ what not to do. Our honor class will have the test in our regular classroom, room 114, with Mr. Schick while the others (regular human geo class) are down the hall. The test will be a hundred multiple choice questions and two essay questions and should be finished at 9:30 or 9:45 with extra time. The teachers recommend bringing a lunch because all the students will probably go to the cafeteria after the first exam and the line will be really long and you won't have time to study for the next exam. The first exam is the Religion exam and then the Social Studies exam which starts at 10. No cheating because that will be very bad, we are not allowed to leave early, and no electronics during the exam if we finish early.

Demographic Transition
Notes:
- Demographic Transition: the transition from high birth and death rates to lower birth and death rates as a country or region develops from a pre-industrialized economic system. Most developed countries are in the process of this transition. The major (relative) exceptions are some poor countries, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa and some Middle Eastern countries, which are poor or affected by government policy or civil strife, notably, Pakistan, Palestine territories, Yemen, and Afghanistan. The model will track population changes that occur as a country begins to develop or industrialize.
- The model works from pre-industrial in stage 1, through development in stages 2 and 3, to post industrial stage 4. It allows us to compare where countries currently are in the transition to countries that have already gone through those changes which effectively can tell us what needs to change.
- Some cities in China are so polluted that the air is hard to breathe and there are like no birds or insects.
